 Submitting homeworks via email.

Last Updated: September  20 1999

As you already know, homeworks for CS-109 need to be submitted via email. By doing so, I can prepare your files so that we can go over them in the discussion we have in class once the homeworks have been handed in.

Below you will find outlines for how to submit your homeworks via email using email attachments. I would love to give you detailed instruction on how to do this, but I cannot. Each of you might be working in a different configuration of "operating system-compiler-email package", and there are too many combinations of those. Therefore, what I'm doing is providing you with a reference to a very good web page written by Hampshire College's Academic Computing Department. You should go and try to perform this task as soon as possible, so that you know that you will be able to repeat the process once your homework is ready.

If you want to make sure that you understand the process, you can send ME a sample email, with some file attached to it. I will reply to your message so you receive confirmation of my receiving it.

If you try to perform this task and, for whatever reason, fail, I'll be happy to try to assist you in as much as I can; if that is your case, send me an email message describing your operating system, compiler used, and email package.

Submitting via email attachments.

This is the preferred method for submitting assignments, since it is easier to include two or more files at the same time (as will be the case once we start working with functions).

The precise steps needed in order to send an attachment will depend on the operating system and machinery you are working with. Refer to Hampshire College's Academic Computing webpage regarding email if you need assistance. This pages should allow you to read about every single step of the process.

Things to include in your email.

Other than the actual program file, it would help me immensely if you write your name and which homework you are sending (#1, #2, etc.) as part of the email TITLE. That way I can find your message by just looking at the titles in my email client (that is, I won't be force to actually look at the attachment and read the comments in your program right away).

That's it! Go try it and let me know how it goes!
