Bit Films is the name on the door.
Behind the door you may find any number of things taking place:
computer animation production, screenwriting, directing, software development, visual effects, storyboarding, and more.
Bit Films is, in part, an attempt to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Founder Chris Perry is a long-time participant in both worlds, as an Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at Hampshire College and a former Technical Director and Programmer with Pixar Animation Studios and Rhythm & Hues Studios in California.
The first piece released under the Bit Films aegis was the animated short film
Displacement, written and directed by Perry and produced by sixteen students in a semester-long class at Hampshire in 2002. More films followed, as has an internship program for exceptional students. Our alumni have worked at world-renowned studios including Pixar, DreamWorks, Rhythm & Hues, Weta Digital, Sony Imageworks, and Digital Domain.
